Aging comes with unique circumstances that can take an emotional toll on patients and caregivers. Older adults may feel overwhelmed or anxious due to changes in health status or phases of life.
Caregivers of patients with dementia may feel shame or guilt for wanting to focus on other areas of their life. If left untreated, these issues can lead to greater anxiety and depression.
We offer supportive counseling to patients and caregivers. Our approach focuses on building resiliency and improving quality-of-life. Specific techniques may include, but are not limited to: discussing cognitive and behavioral changes, mindfulness-based activities, improving coping skills, addressing self-care and existential issues, and grief support. We also provide education about cognitive decline, dementia, and changes in mental health related to aging.
Cognitive difficulties in day-to-day life can be scary! Changes in memory, attention, and problem-solving tend to develop naturally as we get older. However, some patients may be concerned that their difficulties are more than just normal aging. These patients may worry about something more serious, like dementia.
Neuropsychology Solutions can help. We offer brief dementia screenings to assess the severity of cognitive changes and, if needed, make recommendations for more extensive assessments and future care.
Screening appointments consist of a full clinical interview, cognitive screening measures, and supportive feedback. We take the time to carefully address all your concerns and answer any questions you may have. Will also provide strategies to improve day-to-day memory so you can live life to the fullest!
